2024 Receipients
Ricky Dixon

We are proud to announce the 1st of 3 recipients of the 2024 Youngblood Eveleth Memorial Scholarship, Ricky Dixon.
​
Ricky Dixon, a graduate of Springbrook High School, began his wrestling journey as a sophomore with no prior experience but quickly made an indelible mark on the mat. Despite starting behind his peers in technique, Ricky’s relentless work ethic and determination led to an impressive career record of 95–17. He served as a team captain for both his junior and senior seasons, showcasing exceptional leadership.
As a sophomore, Ricky finished 23–7 but did not place at counties. Determined to improve, he trained rigorously over the summer, and his efforts paid off. In his junior year, he went 30–5, placed 4th at counties, and demonstrated resilience when an injury cut his season short. Ricky’s senior year was the culmination of his dedication, ending with a 42–5 record, a 3rd place finish at counties, a regional championship, and a state finalist appearance. Competing in the state arena was a defining moment in Ricky’s wrestling career, solidifying his reputation as a formidable competitor.
Beyond wrestling, Ricky excelled in other sports as captain of the football team and a member of the lacrosse team. He was also involved in Best Buddies, highlighting his commitment to building inclusive communities. Off the field, Ricky contributed to his church as an usher, volunteered at food drives and mulch sales, and coached at a lacrosse camp, making a meaningful impact on his community.
Ricky’s passion for sports and helping others has inspired his academic aspirations. He plans to study kinesiology and continue his wrestling career at McDaniel College. His journey exemplifies resilience, dedication, and a relentless drive to succeed—qualities that make him a deserving recipient of this scholarship.
Jacob Speed
We are proud to announce the 2nd recipient of the Youngblood Eveleth Memorial Scholarship, Jacob Speed.

Jacob Speed, a graduate of Crofton High School, began wrestling at just four years old with the Chaos Wrestling Club in Pennsylvania, training under the guidance of his father. He later competed for Malvern Preparatory School’s junior league program, becoming a three-time Pennsylvania state qualifier. After moving to Maryland, Jacob wrestled for the Naval Academy’s junior league program, earning state placements of 6th, 7th, and 8th.
Although COVID and injuries sidelined his freshman and sophomore high school seasons, Jacob made an extraordinary comeback. He became a two-time county runner-up, a two-time regional champion, and a two-time state placer. His senior year highlighted his tenacity as he advanced to the state semifinals, ultimately finishing 6th. Jacob closed his high school career with a record of perseverance and determination.
Off the mat, Jacob demonstrated a strong work ethic through various roles, including shift lead at Firehouse Subs, food runner and busboy at Langways Restaurant, and volunteering for lawn care work in his community.
Wrestling has been more than a sport for Jacob—it has been a way to honor the memory of his father, his first coach and biggest supporter, who passed away unexpectedly during Jacob’s youth. Despite immense challenges, including the loss of his father and housing instability, Jacob’s dedication to wrestling and his family never wavered. With his mother’s unwavering support, Jacob turned adversity into motivation, vowing to honor his father’s dream by competing on the national stage.
Jacob will continue his wrestling career at Elizabethtown College, where he plans to major in Exercise Science. This scholarship will help him pursue his goals and fulfill his promise to himself and his father to one day compete at NCAA Nationals.

Duncan Stadler

We are proud to announce the 3rd recipient of the 2024 Youngblood Eveleth Memorial Scholarship, Duncan Stadler.
Duncan Stadler, a graduate of Jackson-Reed High School in Washington, DC, finished his high school wrestling career with an impressive record of 110–14, including 73 pins, despite COVID canceling his freshman season. A dedicated leader, Duncan served as a three-year varsity captain and was named team MVP twice.
Duncan was instrumental in advocating for the return of wrestling to the DCIAA conference after a 30-year absence, with the first regular season taking place in 2022–2023. His accolades include being a two-time DCIAA and DCSAA State Champion, a two-time Washington Post All-Met District of Columbia Honorable Mention, and a MAWA All-American.
In addition to his athletic achievements, Duncan excelled academically, completing 10 Advanced Placement or dual enrollment courses and earning two NAF certificates with honors from the Engineering and Information Technology Academies. He was an active member of the robotics team and completed internships with a national technology company and a state university computer research lab. Duncan also demonstrated a strong commitment to his community, serving as a coach, camp counselor, and fundraiser across multiple sports.
Duncan will continue his education and wrestling career at Johns Hopkins University.
2023: Owen Bell
We are proud to announce the 2023 recipient of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship, Owen Bell.
Owen Bell, a graduate of Hereford High School, has a high school career record of 114-10, despite COVID cancelling his sophomore year season. Owen was a 3 year Captain for the Hereford Bulls, three-time Baltimore County Champion, three-time Regional Champion in those three years of his high school career.
Owen placed 4th in the state his junior year and capped off his career with a 42-0 senior season that concluded with him going un-scored on in the state tournament to become a State Champion in 2022. Owen was also a 3x MSWA State Champion in both Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling. In December 2022, Bell was named Baltimore Sun's Athlete of the Week.
In addition to his on the mat accolades, Owen was named NHSCA Academic All American in 2023 and was twice named to the MSWA All Academic Team. Owen maintained a 4.79 weighted GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Owen will be attending Bucknell University pursuing a dual degree in Civil Engineering and Management while continuing to wrestle.

2022: Chase Listorti
We are proud to announce the first of three 2022 recipients of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship, Chase Listorti.
Chase Listorti, a graduate of Chesapeake High School, has a remarkable career record of 132-16, 79 pins, and a recipient of three Varsity letters for wrestling. Chase placed two-times at the Anne Arundel County Championships, placed three-times at Regional Championships, won two Regional championships, and was crowned State Champion in 2022, his ultimate high school career achievement.
​Despite his athletic schedule, Chase maintained an excellent academic record.
Chase Listorti plans on attending McDaniel College and will pursue a degree in Biochemistry.


2022: Justin Knapp
We are proud to announce the second of three 2022 recipients of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship, Justin Knapp.
Justin has been wrestling since he was four years old and his dedication and passion for the sport led him to an impressive high school record of 107-14. He was a three time Maryland State placer, two time Regional Champion, two-time Anne Arundel County Champion and a one time County runner-up. Justin was also named three times as First Team All County.​
Academically, Justin is a committed student-athlete at Southern High School, excelling in the classroom.
Justin plans on attending Belmont Abbey College, majoring in business.
2022: Devin Boger
We are proud to announce the third of three recipients in 2022 of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship, Devin Boger.
​Devin Boger began his wrestling career during his sophmore year with Pikesville High School, then transferring to Catonsville High School for his senior year. At Catonsville, Devin became a great leader and an even better wrestler. Under the Catonsville coaching staff, Devin placed 4th in the Baltimore County Championships and made it to the Regional Semifinals.
Devin says he learned it is not about how many years you have wrestled or your accolades; rather, it is the heart you put into it and the ambition and drive you put out for yourself to get the win every time.​
Devin is attending Morgan State University in Maryland where he will continue to wrestle.


2020: Connor Strong
We are proud to announce the first recipient of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship! The scholarship in 2020 was awarded to Connor Strong.​
Connor Strong graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School where he spent his four year academic and wrestling career. He served as a captain on the varsity wrestling team his Junior and Senior year. While wrestling for the Gaels, Strong was a 4x MIAA Conference Finalist and 3x champion. He was also a 4x MIS State Finalist and 2x champion. Strong was a 3x All-American at National Preps and a Beast of the East and Ironman All-American.​
Academically, Strong was a honor roll student and achieved the Principal’s list three times. He earned a 4.53 GPA his senior year and was enrolled in two AP classes. Strong was also a member of the Social Media Ambassador club and the Leadership Club.​
Connor Strong will be attending the University of Pennsylvania where he will continue his academic and wrestling career. He plans to major in Economics.
